At SSC, we saw an opportunity to do things differently.
With over 30 years of experience in the custom home installation industry, we recognized a gap in the way materials—specifically stone, brick, and tile—were being matched to clients’ needs.
Traditional material yards didn’t offer the personalized service or attention to detail we felt was essential for creating truly exceptional spaces. That’s why we set out to revolutionize the process of material selection for your home.
Founded in the 1990s, SSC initially served as a supplier for our sister company, Young Ideas Construction, specializing in high-end installations. Our background in custom home installations gave us a unique perspective on the importance of material selection, and we used this expertise to refine the process. By visiting quarries and manufacturing facilities, we were able to meet not only the owners but also the artisans creating the products. This direct connection allowed us to see the limits and possibilities of each material, enabling us to create custom finishes tailored to the exact specifications and needs of our clients.
We started with domestic suppliers but quickly expanded our reach to Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Unlike many suppliers who focus on volume, we sought out operations willing to work with us on custom finishes and blends. It’s this commitment to quality and craftsmanship that sets us apart in the industry.
We believe in maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers. Each year, we make it a priority to visit them in person to stay up-to-date on the latest materials and design trends. This allows us to bring the best and most innovative products to our clients.
As we approach our tenth year in business, we continue to work closely with architects, designers, and homeowners on a variety of projects. Our approach is different: we don’t simply sell you what’s in stock. Instead, we work closely with you to understand your vision. By sharing inspiration photos, we can match your style by sourcing materials from our extensive global network. Whether it’s combining two to five different stones to get the perfect color and texture, we ensure your project reflects exactly what you envision.
We understand that choosing materials from a pallet doesn’t always give you a true sense of how they’ll look in the finished space. That’s why we build full-size mock-ups complete with grout and matching paving stones. This way, you can see how everything comes together before making your final decision.
